Print Scans

I previously mentioned I'm taking a darkroom class and next Monday we are having our first critique. I'm a little nervous but I feel confident with what I've developed so far. For the critique we need to have 5 prints and 5 contact sheets, I managed to get 6 prints! Going into this past Monday (a week before the critique), I was particularly nervous because I had only had 2 prints and one contact sheet. But boy was I determined because in 2 class periods I managed to get 4 prints and 4 contact sheets. Here are my prints in that I developed them so you can see the progress I've made in 7 weeks of class.

My Life Lately According to My iPhone

Hello internet! This is my attempt to try and catch up with my blogging by sharing a few photos lying around on my phone. Lately I've been primarily taking pictures with my film camera and within the next week or so I will hopefully have a few prints to share. But for now here some snapshots!

Snowy Days

Texas weather is really weird, somedays it can be 20 degrees outside and then the next day the high is the sixties. Texas weather has been so weird this year that school has already been canceled three days, once due to snow and the others were for icy conditions. Usually in Austin we are lucky if it snows once a year, but this was the first time it had "snowed" in two years. Typically we get about an inch of snow making it basically sleet but snow is always fun.

McCoy really liked the snow! As soon as I let him off his leash he was running and sliding everywhere (actual footage of this here).

Film Adventures!

Last week I started my second semester of college and I'm very excited because I'm taking a photography class! It's a b&w film class and I'm going to be learning how to develop and print. But at the same time I'm nervous because I've never been good with shooting film in the past. It usually takes me about six months to finish a roll of film, and I have to shoot 36 exposures by Wednesday, so wish me luck. I'm going to do my best to document my film journey here and I'll be uploading my pictures as the semester progresses. - Jessica

52 Weeks

I finally finished my 52 weeks project! It was my New Years resolution for 2013 to take a picture every week for the whole year and it's now complete. So to celebrate I decided to share all of my favorite pictures that I took (you can view the complete project here).

For 2014, I am thinking of working on more conceptual pictures and I'd love to shoot more portraits. Next semester I'm also taking my first photography class, and I'm excited to expand my talents and really learn more about how to work a camera. - Jessica
