April Adventures

Hello internet! I don't think I've mentioned it on this blog but my family got a corgi! His name is McCoy and he has his own tumblr. He's adorable but he doesn't really like me... Anyway here are some shots I've taken of him.

The other day I went with my older sister and her boyfriend to the Zilker Botanical Gardern, I hadn't been there since elementary school so it was fun to revisit it. Nature photography isn't really my thing, but I'm a sucker for some bokeh.

The best part was when I forced McCoy to sit on the butterfly bench.

My last orchestra banquet is next Friday and as historian, I have to compile all the photos I've taken and make a slideshow. Hopefully, I'll find the motivation to make a blog post about our adventures within the next week.

film

About a year ago I found a Nikon FM10 at a thrift shop for $15 and I went for it. This is my first roll of film and it took me about 6 months to shoot, my excuse being I'm too lazy to manually shoot everything and I'm more used to shooting digital. But I love shooting film, the outcome is a total surprise and I hope to start shooting regularly but it's expensive. Unfortunately only 14 of the 24 exposures developed and out of the 14 some where blurry (I need to get used to adjusting the aperture), here are some of my favorite shots.

This was my first film shot, a failed portrait of my dog but I love the colors.

Yes, that is a photo of my dog in a mailbox.

50mm and Instax

Hello internet! I'm here doing a long overdue post. Last month I finally ordered my 50mm lens and it came in 3 weeks ago. I am so happy with the results and the bokeh is so much better than my kit lens.

Last week I found an ad on Craigslist, where someone was selling their Instax 210 camera with 30 packs of film for $60. I've had my eye on getting an Instax for almost two years now, so when I saw this deal I went for it. So I am now the proud owner of an Instax. It's a lot bigger and bulkier than I expected but I can't wait to get shooting, and hopefully soon I can start an Instax wall (like the one on Photojojo!)

week 3 of 52 and new obsessions

Hello internet! My 52 weeks project has been going smoothly, you can check out my progress on my flickr. The above photo is from my shoot today, for week three.

Moving on to the exciting stuff. I've become addicted to redbubble. I've seen a bunch of people on tumblr opening up their own and I decided why not start my own. I've spent a lot of time over the last few weeks just randomly photoshopping stuff and messing around with the templates from the site. I've been mixing around with putting vectors and my photographs up there and here are a few that you can buy.

new years resolution

My New Years resolution this year is to keep up with my 52 weeks. I've always wanted to do a 365 but I want to try a 52 weeks first and see if I can make it through that first. This year is going to be crazy; I'm going to graduate, turn 18, and start college. So hopefully I keep up with this project and document my next year.

The photos I took for this photo were all so grainy and almost mirrored film. I'm not sure if I'm happy with the final result, but here it is.
